Jane and Dean share a laugh

The new year has started off in pretty good fashion. In her continuing treatment for IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer), Jane is taking the drug Herceptin. Herceptin has been in the news quite a bit lately because it is showing such great promise in the treatment of breast cancer. But like a lot of cancer fighting drugs, the promise of a better day comes with some risk to the patient. Jane’s heart function has decreased over the past two years beginning with chemo and now treatment with Herceptin, so that is something that her doctors monitor frequently. Her latest MUGA scan shows that though her heart function has decreased it is still within the ‘normal’ range and she will continue with the Herceptin treatments. Additionally she had another regularly scheduled bone scan which showed that, other than dealing with two cracked ribs (the result of radiation treatments), there were no areas of concern. So we start the new year with good medical reports for Jane and that is a real blessing.

Although Texas film production has been severely crippled by competition from Louisiana and New Mexico, in particular, there are some signs of life in our film work. And there are other opportunities offered by the Louisiana production increase. In that regard, I made another trip to Dallas on Friday to read for a role in a film that will be shooting in Shreveport in the near future. If something more happens, I’ll elaborate here. Until later, enjoy the photo of Jane and great-nephew Dean Thomas Buford, grandson of Jane’s brother Allen Buford and wife Debbie, son of nephew Bryan and his wife Kelly.
