Stop the World…

June 15th, 2006 by txactor

Man I’m ticked at myself…Just spent 30 minutes updating this blog and then hit the wrong button and trashed the whole thing…. must not have been worth reading…

2nd draft:

First the Good News: About two weeks ago, Jane passed two years being CANCER FREE. Since we really weren’t given much hope that she would survive this long at all, to be cancer free for two years seems miraculous. Miracle or not it is a blessing from God and we are thankful. Thankful to Him, to family and friends and to her doctors, particularly to Dr. Brenda Towell, Jane’s oncologist.

Jane just finished a year of treatments on Herceptin, the much in the news cancer fighting drug. Jane was not the optimal candidate for Herceptin as her cancer was not caught early, but the results have been so positive for those taking Herceptin, that her doctor wanted her to take it as well. Jane is thankful there was such a drug available, but is also glad to be free of the every 3 week infusion routine.

Herceptin is not without it’s potentially serious side effects and last week Jane has another battery of tests: bone scan, MUGA scan (heart), blood tests and a CAT scan of her lungs. All tests were negative and we can now exhale again.

All other news pales by comparison to the former but I’ll quickly update the acting prospects:

Had a great callback in front of the Coen Brothers for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Although the audition went well and I have been told they ‘wanted to cast you’, that did not happen. Major disappointment, of course as I would have loved to have worked on that film and with those guys.

About two weeks ago I had another terrific audition (I think, anyway) with Tim Blake Nelson (a Coen cohort) for his film SEASONS OF DUST. I was well prepared for my reading and that seemed to have paid off as TBN gave kudos to my work and to my preparation. I ended up reading for two additional roles and….haven’t heard a word since. His film starts shooting in mid-July, so there is still some hope of landing some work in that one. He was a very ‘nice guy’, obviously tremendously talented and it would be a treat to work on his project…still waiting.

One the ‘upcoming projects’ front we have recent news that FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, the series has been picked up and will shoot here in Austin. My small role in the film was a pleasure to do and I hope to get the chance to work again with Peter Berg.

Before I erase this post before posting I’ll close and move on to other work…

Thanks to any who are reading these posts. Thanks for the emails and comments. Take care all, keep the faith and stay strong.

Tommy

PS: to Curious_Kitty…thanks for the inquiry. No I did not get cast in THERE WILL BE BLOOD. That’s one film I will definitely see, though as the script is really good.

    Hey Tommy,

You posted on my blog some time ago (about Tneder Mercies). It seems we have many similar interests and we’ll soon live near each other as well.

Good luck with those recent auditions.
