Villa Muse Film Studio Update
March 6th, 2008 by txactor![]()
Per Kate Miller Morton’s story in today’s Austin American Statesman, Villa Muse could stay outside city for decades.
The Austin city council is slated to vote today on an agreement with Villa Muse developers that would allow the city to negotiate a longterm non annexation agreement. The developers make the case that if they are allowed to be free of the well known slowdowns associated with a project controlled by city development codes they can get the project of the ground faster and at a lower overall cost.
They further submit that the location of the development is well out of the line of fire for development by the city for the foreseeable future because it is located at the edge of the Austin ETJ and is mostly located in a flood plain. This is, without question, an ambitious project. It is also a project that, if successful, could return to Austin literally millions of dollars in film production and film production jobs for film crews and actors that have been lost to aggressive state run incentive programs, primarily in Louisiana and New Mexico.

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.
