Day surgery…what the heck is that?

December 10th, 2005

Jane had ‘day surgery’ on Thursday. Why do they call it ‘day surgery’? I’ve lived a pretty good number of years. I’ve had surgery. I’ve had other family members who’ve had surgery. I’ve never seen a surgery start in the daytime and go into the night. Other than emergencies, are surgeries even performed at night? [...]

Wishing it were Chili Time, Not Chilly Time

December 7th, 2005

Winter has finally hit Austin and it’s cold here today! Unfortunately, it’s not only the weather that is cold. The film business is also suffering from a bit of a cold spell as well. Or at least this actor is. Work always slows down during Thanksgiving and Christmas and through the start of the new [...]

I’m Thankful for…High School Football ??????

November 24th, 2005

It’s Turkey Day tomorrow. Every year our family has a big Thanksgiving day get-together …usually 30-50, some years it’s more. It’s always a good time. Over the last two years, these family get together’s have taken on added importance. This will be our 3rd Thanksgiving since Jane, my wife, was diagnosed with cancer. She was diagnosed [...]

Victory Junction Gang Camp

November 15th, 2005

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to post. Just spent a GREAT weekend in Randleman, NC at the Victory Junction Gang camp. This is a camp that the Petty family (you know…VAROOOMMMM) has established with corporate help from Georgia-Pacific and others. The camp primarily serves kids who have serious illnesses, disabilities, burns, etc. [...]

Me and My Shadow: An Actor’s Life

October 21st, 2005

I guess I should wrap up a few loose ends from previous posts: To be blunt, the trip to Shreveport was a bust. Although I did get the callback, I didn’t get the gig. Callbacks don’t pay. Not in $$$ at least. Emotionally, they pay a bit, but that currency is usually spent by the [...]

Have SAG Card, Will Travel

October 8th, 2005

Wow…it’s been a hectic schedule lately… The Texas based actor has to travel. The normal circuit is Austin -> Dallas -> Houston. Now you can add Shreveport, LA to the mix. In the past week I’ve been to Dallas 3 times and Shreveport once. I think I’m too old for this! … With all the [...]
